Name the decision-maker
Identify who can approve placement: the property owner, manager, general contractor, or tenant representative. A convenient empty space may still be reserved, part of a fire lane, or covered by lease rules. Keep the written approval with the job file.
Map normal site traffic
Check customer parking, accessible routes, loading docks, vendor deliveries, waste collection, emergency access, and employee entrances. Choose a time when the delivery truck can maneuver without forcing people into an unsafe path.
Define the waste stream
List the materials by job phase. Packaging, office fixtures, drywall, flooring, roofing, and masonry do not create the same weight or disposal questions. Separate questionable or regulated material until the operator gives a clear answer.
Plan service, not only delivery
Decide who will watch the fill level, keep the area clear, and request pickup or a swap. A container that blocks the next trade or sits full through a busy weekend can cost more in disruption than the planning call takes.
